In this week’s interview we’re talking with Scrawl, one of the main programmers for OpenMW, the new fan-created game engine for Morrowind. During this interview, we discuss the progress of OpenMW, whether or not we’ll see the 1.0 release this year, and what features that Scrawl is looking forward to implementing post-1.0.

In this week’s interview we’re talking with Scamp, project developer and head of exteriors with Province: Cyrodiil and also Skyrim – Home of the Nords, both of which are massive province mods that have recently come under the same banner during the recent province union.
During this interview, we discuss the recent progress at Province: Cyrodiil (including when we might see a new release), as well as the work that Scamp has done for Tamriel Rebuilt in the past, and the recent Province Union with Project Tamriel that has brought Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Elsweyr, and High Rock under the same banner.

Morrowind Modding Reviews is a new series dedicated to looking at one mod at a time and providing an actual narrated review with a numerical score based on a number of qualifications (see the chart below). Generally speaking, I have always tried to leave my personal opinion out of Morrowind Modding Showcases, so Morrowind Modding Reviews is a chance for me to provide a review and feedback for a particular mod.

For our second review, we’re looking at Houses and Apartments by Ashworm. This is a real estate mod with 12 purchasable homes across Vvardenfell originally released in 2005. Each home is unique and comes at a different price, providing a variety of styles for the player to choose from, and each home is themed around a different plant or flower.

The Roth Roryn region covers a massive stretch of mainland Morrowind’s western territory, composing a large chunk of the area in-between the borders of Cyrodiil and the Thirr River Valley. Known for its massive canyons and towering rock-faces, Roth Roryn is a rugged region filled with untamed wilds and natural beauty. Sparely populated due to the rough nature of the terrain, a number of Hlaalu and Redoran settlements can still be found here, with Hlaalu plantations hugging the outskirts of eastern Roth Roryn, and various Redoran farms and towns populating the interior.
The region is dominated by the massive Redoran city of Kartur, located in the northeastern reaches of the Roth Roryn territory in one of the many defensible valleys that populate the area, with tall enclosing cliffs to protect the city from invasion. Aside from the bustling valley streets of Kartur, the region is also home to the ancient Redoran settlement of Bodrum, made famous for a battle between the Empire and Resdayn during the First Era.
Tamriel Rebuilt released the Roth Roryn region as part of the Tamriel Rebuilt Alpha back in August of 2014. This region is partially complete already, with some interiors in place and the typical assortment of NPCs populating certain areas of the territory. For our second episode, we’re making a quest mod using the house mod from episode one as a base (sort of), since a lot of you mentioned in the comments that you’d like to see a quest mod. During this episode we create a new exterior and interior, and explain NPC creation, Dialogue, Quest Design and Scripting to some extent.
I’ve included the full rough draft quest design document, complete with notes and explanations, as a download for you guys to check out, so you can hopefully get a good idea of how to design and write quests.
It should be mentioned that our little quest mod is going to take several weeks to finish, and in total will be continued over the next six-seven episodes, including a final episode covering what all you should do to advertise and promote your mod after release.
Next time on Let’s Mod Morrowind, we’ll be doing more quests but also dungeon design. We’re going to be doing a smuggler cave to start out with, but we can combine multiple tilesets together, so let me know what additional dungeon features you’d like. For example, we could include Daedric, Dwemer, Velothi or even Imperial Fort architecture in our smuggler cave.
Trade Disputes is a large and in-depth quest mod originally released for Morrowind in 2003 by Dalin. The mod takes place at Fort Klamoth, a new Imperial fort near Gnisis, where trade negotiations between the Imperials and a nearby fishing village of peaceful orcs have stalled to a stand-still. Both sides are hiding things from the other, and it’s up to the player to decide who they’ll side with in the negotiations, and whose terrible secrets of the past they’ll reveal…
Trade Disputes won entry into Planet Elder Scrolls Hall of Fame in 2006, and is considered one of the most popular Morrowind quest mods of the early 2000s with over 10,000 downloads.
