Title: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: LadyPhoenixFireRose on July 15, 2015, 06:12:26 PM
I'd like to claim plot 34.

I don't know exactly what I am going to do yet, but I do have some ideas. I plan on including parts of my other mods in this, like the library from my Necro Abode. There will also be a dungeon included, and in the cells I am thinking about placing something interesting npcs from another mod I am working on, one I haven't shared with community. I also think that I shall include a large intricate cave system going to deep underground. There also may be a couple of quests included.

As for the architecture, for the caves I know I want to use the lava cavern tileset. The rest of it I am uncertain of. I will probably use several modders resources, including Shannon's skyboxes, like I am inlcuding in my Necro Abode.

As for the characters, I'm going to have two avatars, both nords, one male and one female. The reasoning behind that will be explained in the mod, but not here. Then like I mentioned there will be some npcs from at least one of my other mod ideas, five from the one I mentioned before. Other will be decided on later. Other characters I may include, I will decide on by a case by case basis.

So I think that is all I have on it for now, I'll get more of any idea once I actually get into making it.

Update 1: I think I might use the sky boxes to that you have to go to another realm, before getting to cave system part.

Hmm, now there's a thought...

Okay, so I've changed my mind, I'm not going to be using the lava cave tileset, nope, it is going to primarily be the mostly unused vanilla bonecave tileset. Well mostly unused by vanilla, I have no idea how many mods might use it.

Or maybe not, I don't know, I'm rather undecided at the mo. I'll have more of an idea once I start building it.

Yeah, I had no idea what I was doing when I started. I just did what came naturally. I'll post some screens of my progress soon.

Okay, not really a progress on building update, but it is a progress on ideas update. I have decided that my Avatar, being one of the first to encounter the bone monsters, came across and rescued a bone spider. After rescuing it my Avatar kept it hidden away as a very loyal pet, which could pose trouble for the player if they discover the spider and kill it. I'm think that this might also have some involvement with part of the main quest.

Can I add a bridge from my island to the main island? I want to add it this area, where it shouldn't get in that way of anyone else's plots:

On another note, I don't suppose I can request the the ground textures of my island be turned into frozen land ones? I'm thinking I want to do an outdoor fire and ice theme, if there are no objections?

Edit: Also, would be alright if I expanded into the water around my island some? As I have a few ideas for that.

I honestly don't see a problem with any of your requests. Having a diverse area for players to explore is a good thing! And I think the bridge will be out of the way. My wife might pout a little about the pretty mushroom lights being gone, but I can handle that. :)

I like it, though I don't understand why the access points on either side are blocked.

Yeah, as there isn't much point to to closing off the ends, but I am planning on making that the only access point to the island, well easy access point.  I don't know how well my plans will work out, but I want to make it a rather closed off island if I can. To kind of give a your not welcome vibe.

Would it be alright if I were to do something like this:

I'm thinking that a lava moat can go a long way to towards warding off uninvited guest. I don't that I'll keep that design exactly, as that picture there is mostly just a proof of concept, and I'm not to satisfied with the wall of rock around it. But first things first, I want to make sure no one has any objections to making it, before I go any farther with it.

I think it's fine, this is a project where you can go crazy with your creativity after all. Though you might want to send a message to HangHimHigher and get his opinion on it, since he's your next-door neighbor on Plot #32. He might have some opinions about his ocean-front property facing a lava moat :P

So HangHimHigher gave me the go ahead to do what I want, so here is my mostly finished Lava Moat. I may tweak it more later, but for now I think this it what I'll be sticking with.

Okay, progress! I think I am completely finished with my moat. Though, I still have a long way to go outside of that. I am still rather indecisive as to what tileset I want to build my house out of. Also, now added to my to do list is redoing the land decor, as I decided to go with an entirely new environment for my island. Here's a pick of my progress.

I'm having a weird issue with my island, in that things I've deleted keep showing back up in game. I am using the esm version of the mod, so that issue should have been solved. Could it be because I moved them, saved my esp and then later deleted them? That's the only reason I can think of, as only some of the trees and rocks show up again, and not all of them...

And in any case, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do about this?

Also, every time I test, I make absolutely sure that there are no other esps for modtown in effect, so I know that that is not the issue here.

Are you using a save file from before the .esm was activated, or a newer save file? That might be the cause of the problem. My other guess would be distant land, but even then, the trees would re-disappear if you got close to them.

Yeah, make sure that you're using a new save when testing.
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: LadyPhoenixFireRose on August 12, 2015, 11:58:46 AM
Brand new game every single time, in fact, I had made a new install for Morrowind just so I could work on this and not have wade through everything added to my other installs. I have nothing else added, save for Trunksbomb's Mod Testing CharGen and MGE-XE, and MGE-XE isn't even generating distant land, I only added it to get nicer screenshots. So when I test it the only mods active at all are: the one I'm testing, the CharGen one, and the esm for this. Oh, and I almost forgot, I have the patches for Morrowind active as well.

Could it be, that since I moved the original items, left them moved through several changes into new esps (I make a new esp every time I'm making a major change), and so I didn't actually delete them until esp that I actually changed my terrain in. Though, I almost forgot, I was having this issue back when it was just moved, I'd go in, test the changes and what I moved would still be where I put it, but there would also be some trees and rocks back in the original areas.

The only thing that I can think of, but I still don't know how that would work out, and why it never shows up in the editor, is that in the course of alternating esps I ended up making them read as separate items???

On a totally new note, I have worked on the landscaping of my island, so now I can share some in game pics, as apposed to just showing you more birds-eye view pics from the editor. So here goes:

So there is nothing but the Bethesda.esm's, ModTown2015.esm, modtestchargen.esp, and yourplot.esp active? And you're sure that your mod is still dependent on ModTown2015.esm (double check it in Mash)?
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: LadyPhoenixFireRose on August 12, 2015, 02:53:12 PM
And Morrowind Patch v1.6.6 beta, I forgot to include that one in my list. Other than that, nothing at all. As for question, both Mash and the CS says it, and all the other esps for it, are dependent on MT2015.esm. But even if they weren't, shouldn't all the trees, rocks and whatnot be repopping up as apposed to just a few of them?

Edit, here are couple pics that show just how much stuff stick around. There are a few rocks that are off to the side that stick around, but that is about it. It's not much, but it is enough to be annoying. But that small amount is what really gets me, because I can't find any reason for it still be around especially as the rest of it is completely gone.

Here, I think this is all you'll need, as it has no resources, and is my most up to date, changed landscape. The decor and other stuff are currently in a separate esp so that requires this one. Plus, for testing I think that it will really only get the way.

1) the file is very dirty, specifically with extra cell references

2)  Even after cleaning the 19 junk cells, there are a LOT of cells in the file... I would expect a maximum of 6 given the island size and location. But after cleaning the 19 junk cells, there are still 38 left over... these need to be cleaned out.

This may not be the root of the problem you are experiencing, but it probably doesn't help. And it also sounds like you're maintaining multiple plugins to work on your claim? That could potentially be causing the reappearing objects you're seeing depending on the load order. I would recommend just keeping one esp for your claim.
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: LadyPhoenixFireRose on August 12, 2015, 09:23:52 PM
*Face meets palm!*

I meant to clean it earlier, to see what that did but I completely forgot. As for the various other cells, I think that would be caused by moving items way out of my work zone. I'd delete those, if I knew exactly which cells are mine, as I don't fully understand how the cells work, so I'm not sure which to delete and which not to.

Okay as to the esp, I'm not really maintaining multiple esps for it, it's more of that each esp is a separate stage of development, so I can easily back track if I need to with out have to delete anything. The landscaping stuff in those pictures I posted are only in separate esp because they're to be merged into the next stage. Which I haven't done yet (mainly because when I was testing how everything looked in game I got side tracked with trying to fix the annoying reappearing trees and rocks), everything that is in that esp was made and completed after the one I gave you, and it changes nothing that is that esp. So as far as I am aware that shouldn't be an issue. I was still keeping only one esp for the active when I first started experiencing the issue.

On another note, would this cause issues with merging it into the rest of the file? Because if not, I'm going to ignore it and just go on with my mod. Because, at this point if cleaning doesn't fix it, I have no idea what will, other than a total restart (which I would rather avoid if I can).
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: Melchior Dahrk on August 12, 2015, 09:56:07 PM
I can help with identifying the cells. From looking at your plugin, it looks like you only really modify 23,49; 24,49; 23,48; and 24,48. Take a look and see if that makes sense to you.

Pro-tip: hit CTRL-B while in the render window to toggle cell borderlines. Can be helpful during certain activities.

Okay, so once you merge your new detailed esp with your old one (that you sent me), verify that the issue persists with the objects popping back up. If it does, make sure that you double check that they aren't now in the merged plugin file.

No need for a total restart. In the worst case scenario, I can fix it in the final merge.

Okay, so I cleaned. First TES3CMD (which for some reason got rid of 29 cells for me?), then with the Enchanted Editor, which I used to git rid of the remaining wilderness cells. I can say for sure that cleaning it did not fix my issue, though what I do know now is that some of those wilderness cells contain some of the rocks around my lava moat. So I need to work out just which cells those are, so I can avoid removing them in future.

I betting it will be, because it has persisted through several new esps. The first time I noticed it was when I was testing my bridge in game, one of the rocks it reverts to it orriginal place pokes through the end of the bridge on the side with my island. I didn't think of much of it at the time, assuming it was something easily fixable. It was when I totally cleared off my island that I found it to be a real issue, and well here we are.

Thanks for the tips, that will be a lot of help. Also, its good to know I won't have to restart.

Oh, and a not really related question, I noticed in the enchanted editor it says says I changed a lot of land textures. Which I think was because I did a lot of messing with before deciding which ones I liked. I'm betting if I used the Enchanted Editor do delete the ones I am using that would get rid of my changes, but if I deleted the rest of them it shouldn't harm  anything? I hope.

In general the LTEX references are no big deal from what I have found. You can delete the ones you know you don't use and shouldn't have any problems. Or leave them and you also probably won't have any problems. I've never heard of them causing incompatibility issues.

Okay that's good to know. So I'll worry about them when I get to that point.

------

On a totally new note, since that is worked as best I can for time being. I have finally figured out why I'm having issues coming up with a good design for my house. And I'd have to say that my bridge is entirely to blame. To me, at least, that bridge is rather impressive, when you find an impressive bridge and cross if there is a house on the other side it has be at least just as impressive. So, actually designing my house may take some time. I keep starting on something, then I feel like it is not satisfactory.

Who knows, perhaps I might not even do an actual house. I might end up doing more like my garden in those pictures I posted on the previous page. Just thinking out loud here, and letting you all know what is going on with the mod.

-----

Edit, on another note, I was wrong that some of those rocks was outside the cells. I think what happened was I accidentally deleted them before, and didn't realize it. While the missing rock issue has now been fixed, and I know for sure that those four cells are the only ones I need to worry about, and I can safely delete the rest.

It has now been confirmed that they are in the merged esp as well. So I guess my plan is ignore them, and move on with my mod. And when ever I want to take pretty screen shots in game, excessive use of the disable command.

I'm curious about it, if you don't mind, send it my way and I'll take a peek at it. These sorts of things usually have an explanation (having worked on a large project for a long time, I know the CS can be glitchy at times, but MOST of the time, things happen for a reason).

Going on vacation in the morning, so maybe shoot me a message so it doesn't get buried. Anyway, talk to you later!

------

So I have actually came up with a design I like for the exterior of my house. One that I feel actually does live up to the rest of my plot. With this I think that I am now mostly finished with the exterior of my claim. What I have left right is some error fixes, I noticed a couple of floating trees as walked through it, and I may decide to tweak it later. But for now I think I shall moving on to the interiors.

Here are some screenshots to see how it looks:

I like it.

On a total side note, would there be any objections to me calling it Lady's Abode? Or does that sound to generic. It has meaning to me, in that Lady is a nickname that I've used quite often online. But I know I'm not the only one to use Lady in my modder name, so should I do something else? Something more

So I've been working on the entrance hall, keeping it fallowing the theme of the exterior. I think that it is coming along nicely.

Could use some icicles along the walls, like the snow dripped down them a bit, and I would go with more variety in the types of lights that you use, but other than that, looks pretty good.

Ooo, creatures I haven't really thought of that. But such an exotic (eccentric, what ever you want to call it) place as this should really have some creatures wandering around it. I know there will be your bone spider hidden away somewhere, but other than that I'll need to think on more.

So I've been working on a room, well I was going to call it a bathroom, but I don't know that it qualifies as one anymore. In which case, I don't really know what to call it... On an another note, I feeling kind on undecided about this room. It doesn't really feel finished, but I don't know what else to with it, I found if I tried icing it up like I did the entrance hall it would get far too crowded, though I might put some ice around the walls...

Anyway, that's just me think out loud. Here are the progress pics of the room:

I think it has enough stuff in it as it is. And the best purpose for such a room is none at all. It's just there for the player to die in.

I would call the room "dramatic bathroom" and the structure in the center as "energizing shower", which the owner likes to show to their very special "friends". These guests would be raised above ground just a little, levitated above the lava pools slowly, with their skin a trifle burning, and then protruded into the ice-cold shower for a nice thermal effect.
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose
Post by: LadyPhoenixFireRose on August 29, 2015, 09:45:56 PM
Hmm, I don't know about that. Too much of the hermit type to have any kind of guests around, let alone the special kind. Besides, that bath is private. We can't have any sort of guests coming along and snooping out our secrets now can we? Then again, even with out of the hermit bit, I think most "normal" npcs would avoid visiting simply because of some of the odd quarks of my avatar. There is a reason that it was designed to be uninviting. Not to mention what is going to be in my dungeon....

Please never mind my previous post, I have a much better idea, If you're interested:

So let's suppose the owner of this place is a mage who mastered elemental magicks. Then this room would more likely be a sanctuary or shrine of some kind, where this mage goes to meditate or recharge their powers. Or it can be a huge mana pool, a reservoir of mystical energy this mage taps into for his more grandiose magical feats.

I really like the arched opening in the wall with a view on a sea of water. Was it intended, or is it just a "Construction Set void", so to speak?

It's more of do to me not putting a door in, as I have yet to find any door that I like. If you look carefully, at most of my other screenshots, you'll notice there aren't really any does in them either. Save for the second set on my entrance hall, there is one door (though not at the other end, it is still missing its door), which I was just testing out, and I am still undecided as to whether I'll keep it. The normal imperial doors just don't seem impressive enough, same with most of the others, and any that are impressive just do not fit.

And actually yeah, I agree with your second idea. I was thinking that this room looks like some kind of mystical regeneration room or something. Now, I just need a name for it, as bathroom, really doesn't suite it...

Meant to add this to my last post, but got side tracked, and I don't like editing posts hours after there made, so double post it is.

The reason you see an ocean of water out the door is because that's what you get when you add water to an interior cell, and some ambient light of some sort. There I'm using ambient sunlight. Though, it very cool looking... maybe I'll just do an invisible door so we can keep the view. Actually... I just had an idea, that could work. I'll go test it and get back on that.

Edit, so here  is my idea for it, doing something like this just to enhance to view out the door.

This using one of Shannon's sky boxes by the way. It still needs more tweaking before I'll be satisified with it, I might even change the sky box I'm using. But this in the basic idea at any rate.

Post by: Autoclock on December 18, 2015, 12:57:25 AM
Yes. Open up the file, and in the block list, look for a node called "vertical_water_spouts". It has five nodes inside of it, called "ex_lavacave_spout10", the fifth of which is the one you want to modify. Right-click, go to Transform, then down to Edit, and in the area marked "Scale", you can make the fire larger by increasing the value there. You might have to move the fire down after doing so, by adjusting the "Z" position in that same menu. It'll probably take a few tries to get it just right, since you have to go back and forth between the game and NifSkope. Good luck.

Oh wow, and I thought you were just going to put it in the throne room. Looks to me like some of the FX aren't showing up. Might be the globe causing issues. You want me to adjust it, or do you think you can handle that?

:o Just in the throne room? When I can do use it as an excuse to make another grand awe inspiring room?  ;)

Sure, you can have a go at it, they kind of flicker on and off in the game, and I think that it is related to Morrowind's transparency issues. I have no idea how to go about fixing, or at least improving it myself. I tried to take a screenshot that showed the fire, but it doesn't last long enough for me to time it right.
Title: Re: [Modder Claim] -- plot 34 -- LadyPhoenixFireRose

I'll see what I can do.

Okay, I got rid of the alpha property and turned the sphere inside out, so you can still see inside, from any angle, but not out the back of the globe. But the flame and water stuff works great, especially with the new fire pillar I installed. I took the liberty of including two different version, one with blue fire and one with red fire, in case you like one over the other.

Is there a chance you would release those furniture pieces as a resource?

They're already free to use.

It's fine, though I might sink it down a little.

So, I made myself a lovely little garden for my abode, complete with hot tub. Have a look:

On another note, anyone know of any rose resources besides Korana's? I'd really like to add roses to those white planters, but her's just doesn't work for that... So ideas?

I have some roses in Lyithdonea you'd be welcome to use. They're based on the black roses from TR.

TR - models
Vurt/Clavis - textures

if you use the ingredient model i made you can credit me, but i don't care if you do. i'm already credited in modtown.

Any idea when this will be done? I'd really like to see it added to the main file, it's one of the best plots.

First, thank you so much.

As for my progress. I'm not entirely certain... I have one more room I know I need to make. That should finish of building, there is still a bunch of minor detailing that I need to do. Plus my avatar, I just don't know what I want to do with her... I'd still like to go with my switching plan, but I have no idea how to go about making a script for that. Then I want to add a couple quests, just to give the player something more to do there.

----

On another note, update I have finally come up with a working design for my dungeon. I have retextured some of the Stronghold tileset and I think the result are quite impressive.

The first two pics are to show how it looks in brighter lighting, the third is the mostly finished dungeon. Just need to add some items and NPCs to the cells to finish it off.

Well, without knowing what kind of "switching" you're talking about, I can't help you there. As for the tileset, I feel like the stone should be replaced with metal, and there definitely needs to be stuff mounted on the walls, like different kinds of animal heads you don't normally see get mounted. Ask Melchior about doing that.

I was think of doing questline where I my avatar was had messed up an experiment, and was stuck switching back and forth between a male and female persona, and the player would have to fix it. Though, I think I won't be going with that, do to it being too complex for me to implement right now. I look into using a metal texture, and your other suggestion.

You could always do a split personality. That doesn't require scripting. For example, their dialogue could look like this:

Quote
Greetings, stranger. GET THE HELL OUT! Sorry, I have a rude person in my head. Pay them no mind. YOU WILL HEED ME FOOL! What can I do for you? DO ME A FAVOR AND BEAT IT!

Hmm, split personality does fit with the contrasting theme of fire and ice... I just don't know if it's what I want to go for. I'll think about it.

On another note, I can't seem to find a metal vanilla texture that will replace the stone without looking horrid.

I would try editing the UVs, but there doesn't seem to be any vanilla metal textures that is worth even that. None of them have looks I'm going for.

Right click on "NiTexturingProperty". Go to "Texture", you'll see a bunch of maps you can add.

Yes, but wouldn't I need to make new textures for those? That's the part I really don't know how to go about.

You don't need to make any textures, just choose one.

Yeah, there really aren't a ton of metal options in Morrowind (not overly surprising). Not an issue with adding metal textures from resources though.

I gave up on the metal look, haven't found any combinations that work. So does this work any better?

So here are the new textures in game, I think it makes everything blend much better.

And here is the layout of the cells:

I very generous as you can see, I even give my prisoners reading material.

On another note, I don't know that I will be doing much more on any of my claims this month, as I would like to make something for the Modathon. Sadly I'm stumped as to what to make currently...

Yeah,  that's my thoughts exactly... I'm sort of tempted to release my stronghold tileset, as a resource... Though, I'd actually rather leave such things until after ModTown is released. Ah well, hopefully I'll come up with something

So on a note actually related to my plot. I have a door that currently leads to nowhere. I don't have any ideas for where it should lead to, I have decided that aren't any other rooms I want to make. So anyone have ideas as to a good place for it to lead?

Lol, I hope you plan to have some sort of warning for the player on that.

I'm a pretty poor scripter, but I think something like this would work:

Begin KillingDoor

short done
short button

if ( OnActivate == 1 )
   if ( done == 0 )
MessageBox "The door crackles with dangerous energy. Do you want to touch it?" "Yes" "No"
      set done to 1
   endif
   if ( done == 2 )
Messagebox "The powerful energy from the door tears your soul from body"
             Player->SetHealth,0
      set done to 3
   endif
endif

if ( done == 1 )
   set button to GetButtonPressed
   if ( button == 0 )
Messagebox "The powerful energy from the door tears your soul from body"
             Player->SetHealth,0
             set done to 2
   endif
   if ( button == 1 )
      set done to 2
   endif
endif

End

That's not nearly as funny. Alternatively, you could pin a literal note on the door that says: "Caution: Door is cursed, keep your hands off, unless you want to die."

Yeah a warning of some sort was in the plan. I haven't decided what I'll do for it though, I'll take both into consideration though.

After browsing around, I think that this (http://darkelfmodding.com/forum/index.php/topic,197.msg1752.html#msg1752) is the only version of my plots available  here. Not real complete, and if I can finish it there will be some changes to exterior, and a complete resetting up of the layout of the interior.

Edit, it is in this post: Reply #19 on: October 14, 2015, 09:29:26 PM
